iz°one was formed through mnet's survival program produce 48, which was a collaboration between mnet and the japanese girlgroup akb48 and started airing in june 15, 2018. half of the trainees were korean and half were japanese. the members were picked by the audience to be a part of the group. the finale happened on august 31. they will promote in both south korea and japan during 2 and a half years.
their first reality show, iz°one chu, premiered on mnet in october 25th, 2018.
korean debut
iz°one officially debuted on october 29th 2018, with their first mini album color°iz and the mv for its title track la vie en rose. the mv for the song became the most watched kpop group debut mv in the first 24 hours. they proceeded to win #1 at music shows three times with the song and were the fastest girlgroup to get their first win, getting it within 11 days of their debut on m! countdown.
on december 11th, they won their first rookie of the year award at mnet asian music awards.
japanese debut and violeta
iz°one made their official japan debut on february 5, 2019, with the digital release of their first japanese mini-album suki to iwasetai. on january 25, the mv for the homonym title track was released. the mini-album got 2nd place on billboard's biggest first week sale in japan.
on april 1st, they had their first korean comeback with their second mini album heart°iz and the mv for its title track violeta.
